It’s pub week for Tara Luebbe and Becky Cattie‘s latest book, and in an effort to help other writers with their picture book pitches, I’m excited to share my pitch for Operation Photobomb.
(One thing you’ll notice is that there’s no bio in this pitch. Because Albert Whitman had already published Tara and Becky and they were up to date on all their going on’s, I didn’t think it was necessary to reshare the same bio they had previously. Of course, YMMV.)
The pitch:
Dear Eliza,
Monkey and Chameleon love pilfering through tourists’ backpacks in the Costa Rican rainforest. That is, until Monkey finds a camera – and Chameleon develops a love for photobombing. Soon, every photo Monkey tries to take is ruined by Chameleon – whether he’s front and center, or using his camouflage skills. The animals of the rainforest hatch an unconventional plan to teach Chameleon a lesson, and in the end, find a species that loves a good photobomb.
"A surprising gem." -- Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
